Mayoral statement – Lindsey Oil Refinery
With news that the Lindsey Oil Refinery in Lincolnshire, part of the Prax group, is still under threat of closure the Mayor of Greater Lincolnshire, Dame Andrea Jenkyns, has visited staff at the site.
She said: “This week is a real crunch time for the business which has been deemed to be viable, and I’d urge all parties to find a solution which enables it to survive, as a crucial part of our nation’s energy security and supply chains.
“When I met with staff who are clearly facing massive uncertainty, they warned that without a resolution this week, new supplies would not be purchased for processing. This would affect the direct supply of jet fuel via pipelines to Heathrow airport, as well as the petrol and diesel we all rely on.
“If the very worst should happen I have also given the staff my assurances that I will do all I can to support them with training and employment needs going forward.”
