OAL Robot

OAL, the UK’s leading food automation and robotics company, will demonstrate its latest fenceless AI-powered 3D bin picking robot at the inaugural Great Exhibition of Lincolnshire on 22 October.

The food manufacturing sector faces urgent challenges of rising labour costs, lack of available workers, and the pressing need to automate. Traditionally, adoption has been slowed by space constraints on busy factory floors – OAL’s fenceless robotic technology directly overcomes this barrier.

With more than 30 years of experience delivering automation projects across the supply chains of the UK’s leading retailers and manufacturers, OAL systems now run on over 2,000 production lines nationwide. Trusted by major names such as Tesco, M&S, Sainsbury’s, Bakkavor and Premier Foods, OAL combines proven industrial platforms with the latest in 3D vision and artificial intelligence.

The new demonstration highlights how OAL’s fenceless robots can work safely alongside people without the need for cages, making automation possible in tight spaces where it was previously impractical. This approach improves safety, resilience and efficiency while freeing people from repetitive manual handling.

The 3D bin picking robot is designed specifically for food manufacturing. It can identify and handle irregular products such as chicken breasts for ready meals, bunches of flowers, or fruit like lemons – repetitive, physically demanding jobs that are increasingly hard to staff.

Jake Norman, Managing Director of OAL, said:

“We’re proud to be part of the Great Exhibition, celebrating the best of Lincolnshire innovation. Our robots are proven in UK factories, and by applying the latest vision and AI technology we’re opening up new opportunities for food manufacturers. Demonstrating 3D bin picking live at the event shows how automation can deliver safer jobs, stronger supply chains, and a clear signal that Lincolnshire is leading the way in high-tech automation.”
