Mayor welcomes steel signing at new Helm Development in Immingham
The first phase will create new industrial and logistics space for small and medium‑sized businesses across energy, engineering, manufacturing and port logistics.
Mayor Dame Andrea Jenkyns has welcomed a major milestone for Greater Lincolnshire’s industry and port economy during a visit to the new HELM site in Immingham, where Associated British Ports (ABP) and British Steel formally signed a new agreement supporting the future of UK‑made steel.
The Mayor attended the signing at HELM’s impressive new facility, praising the development as a significant vote of confidence in the region and an important step forward for local jobs and businesses.
ABP has begun work on the first phase of a large industrial and logistics project at Immingham, which will create new space for small and medium‑sized businesses across energy, engineering, manufacturing, and port logistics. The development is expected to support business growth, strengthen domestic supply chains, and provide new opportunities close to home for residents.
Mayor Dame Andrea said:
“This is a big vote of confidence in our region and a real boost for local jobs and businesses.
"Immingham and Grimsby are at the heart of the UK’s trade network, and investments like this strengthen our role as the UK’s number one gateway for global trade. The site is also supporting British jobs and British Steel.
"This is exactly the kind of long‑term investment our communities deserve, and I look forward to seeing this development deliver real benefits for local people in October.”
The visit reflects the Mayor’s commitment to backing Greater Lincolnshire’s industrial strengths, supporting skilled jobs, and delivering bolder ambitions, better connections, and brighter futures across the region.
