Mayor visits Boston College’s new Mayflower building
A special tour highlighted how Boston College’s new Mayflower building is boosting skills and opportunities for local students
The Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority has praised the impact of major multi‑million‑pound investment now transforming skills, training, and opportunities at Boston College’s new Mayflower building.
Mayor Dame Andrea Jenkyns visited the college to see first-hand how the new facilities are creating high‑quality, real‑world learning environments for students across the area.
During her visit, the Mayor said:
“I was absolutely thrilled to visit the brand-new Mayflower building at Boston College! This state-of-the-art hub is a total powerhouse for our community, providing world-class facilities that give students vital, real‑world experience.
“The Eden restaurant and 1620 Café are superb training grounds for students to develop professional skills.
“I had a very productive talk with Principal Lynette Leith OBE about our shared commitment to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
“When we invest in local skills, we invest in the backbone of our country. Huge thanks to the team for such a warm welcome and for all they do to support local people.”
The new Mayflower building marks a significant step forward in supporting local ambition, strengthening future skills, and helping Greater Lincolnshire continue to thrive.
The Mayflower building was delivered through the Boston Town Deal, made possible with £9.9 million in Government funding, plus £725,000 in capital co‑funding and £5.5 million in revenue investment from Boston College over five years
