Mayor Andrea Jenkyns rules out visitor levy for Greater Lincolnshire
Protecting local tourism and supporting businesses while people face rising costs
The Mayor of Greater Lincolnshire, Andrea Jenkyns, has welcomed the Government's latest announcements on devolution powers while confirming she will not introduce a visitor levy in the region.
The Government has announced further devolution measures that could give Mayoral Combined Authorities additional powers and responsibilities.
Mayor Andrea Jenkyns said:
"The Government's made some more announcements about devolution powers, that I completely welcome.
"I want to ensure that your voice is heard here in our area.
"But one thing I won't be implementing is the visitor levy. I can see how our hospitality industry has been hammered over the years.
"The Airbnbs, the hotels, the pubs and restaurants. I do not want to drive people away from visiting Lincolnshire, so I will not be implementing it.
"People are struggling anyway, so don't worry. Your seaside holidays, our local businesses, I've got your back."
The Mayor said she remains committed to using devolution powers to support residents, businesses and economic growth across Greater Lincolnshire while backing the region's tourism and hospitality sector.
