Greater Lincolnshire Mayor elected

Residents have been to the polls and voted Dame Andrea Jenkyns as the winning candidate in Thursday’s Mayoral election.
The final results have been declared and Dame Andrea becomes the first elected Mayor for this area, to head up the Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority (GLCCA). The Mayor has a remit to oversee long-term investment, and the delivery of key services, including transport, skills, business growth and infrastructure.
Lee Sirdifield is the interim chief operating officer of the GLCCA, He said:
“Councils in Greater Lincolnshire pursued a devolution deal to bring more local decision-making, funding and responsibilities to this area from government. An elected Mayor was part of this deal, to be a powerful advocate for Greater Lincolnshire at a national and international level.
“The role provides strong, visible leadership and ensures that local priorities are at the heart of decision-making. The election of the Mayor is a key milestone in bringing devolution to Greater Lincolnshire.”
